I was so sad to hear that Barbara Bush had died. She was quite the lady! Even though I’m usually a Democrat, I loved George and Barbara. ( Of course, deep as I am, sometimes I vote for the cute ones.)
When I told my daughter, who’s in her 30’s, that I was sad that Barbara had passed away, she looked at me weird and said “What’s to be sad? She was in her 90’s, she had a good, long life. That is a generational difference. She didn’t know how refreshing Barbara was as First Lady!
I immediately loved Barbara. She was not super skinny. Her hair was gray. Oh my gosh!!! Remember how many people asked George if that was his mother? Didn’t bother them. And I liked the way she spoke her mind. Barbara could be stern, but she was also frank and funny. She stood behind her man and family. I always felt like she and George could come to one of our family dinners and fit right in. George and my Uncle Gary Ledford were two of a kind.
Barbara Bush was quite a legacy. It’s going to be hard for that family. I can’t imagine George will last long without her. Such a great love.
I think I’ll wear my pearls to church on Sunday as my tribute to Barbara.
What about you? Have your pearls out? How did you feel about Barbara Bush? Leave me a note in the comments…in the sidebar.
